Northwest wants to give campus technology users an on-campus experience that accommodates academic, professional and network entertainment activities such as the use of gaming consoles and popular activities that require certain network ports to be open. While some restrictions may apply, registration of gaming consoles like Xbox One are not required.

Gaming Console FAQ

Gaming console systems such as Xbox and PlayStation are allowed to connect to the Northwest wired network.

Personal Devices

Personal Devices

Personal, non-campus-issued, network entertainment devices such as Smart TVs, Apple TV, Google TV, Roku, Blu-ray/DVD players, Alexa and Chromecast are allowed on the campus wired and wireless networks. It is strongly recommended that these devices be used on the Northwest wired network for best speed and experience.

If you need wireless connection, you may use NWMSU_Secure or NWMSU_Personal; however, the Secure network is preferred and best to use when possible.  See Personal Devices for details.

  • NWMSU_Secure requires you to enter your Northwest Network Account username and password.
  • NWMSU_Personal only requires you to enter your own personal passcode that has been previously emailed to you.  You are limited on the number of devices you can connect to the NWMSU_Personal network.

Northwest does not support or maintain personal, non-campus issued entertainment devices and does not guarantee that your personal entertainment device will successfully work on the campus network.
